Green Energy Fair: Zagreb to Once Again Become a Regional Hub for the Energy Transition in Late October

Following the successful inaugural edition, Green Energy Fair returns to Arena Zagreb on 28 and 29 October. Last year’s edition focused on the development of e-mobility, photovoltaic technologies and the integration of renewable energy sources into the power system. In the meantime, the energy sector has gone through an exceptionally dynamic period marked by the rapid development of artificial intelligence, growing demand from data centres, geopolitical challenges and record investment in energy infrastructure. This is precisely why this year’s Green Energy Fair will bring together leading experts, corporate representatives, investors and decision-makers to discuss the key challenges and opportunities of the energy transition.

The energy transition today is no longer a question of direction, but of the speed and manner of its implementation. At the same time, the explosive growth of artificial intelligence and the construction of large data centres are driving unprecedented growth in electricity demand and raising new questions about power grid capacity, as well as the need for new investments in nuclear energy alongside the rapid development of solar and wind power. Announced projects such as Pantheon further confirm the extent to which future economic development will depend on strong energy infrastructure, security of supply and system flexibility. This is why this year’s GEF will address how to respond to new market demands through the development of battery energy storage systems, grid digitalisation, new market models and investment in generation and transmission capacities, while energy security is just one of the issues shaping the future of the economy and society.

Over the course of two days of conference and exhibition programmes, representatives of leading energy companies, equipment manufacturers, investors, start-ups, the public sector, academia and international institutions will gather. The aim of the event is to create space for dialogue, exchange of experience and the presentation of concrete solutions that can accelerate the green transition in the region, as well as provide key answers to the question of how to ensure security of supply and the flexibility the system urgently needs.

As Europe strives to achieve ambitious climate targets, the need for modern forms of nuclear energy is also increasingly being discussed. The GEF will address the ideal energy mix of today and tomorrow through a series of panels, presentations, case studies and expert discussions covering the latest industry trends.

Key topics at this year’s edition will include the development and integration of renewable energy sources into the power system, various models for the application of battery energy storage systems, industrial decarbonisation, ESG requirements, the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the latest developments in the world of e-mobility, energy efficiency, the digital transformation of the energy sector, and flexibility as a key attribute of a modern power system.

Particular focus will be placed on growing electricity consumption driven by the development of artificial intelligence, data centres and new industrial technologies, as well as on the modernisation of the power grid and the investments necessary to maintain the stability and security of supply. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from domestic and international experts and learn how leading global companies are planning to respond to the challenges that will shape the energy sector in the coming decades.

Alongside the conference programme, where visitors will be able to hear about the latest topics and trends in the energy sector, an exhibition area will showcase the latest technologies, products and innovations. From advanced photovoltaic systems and battery energy storage to electric vehicles, software platforms for managing consumption and smart energy systems, GEF will provide an overview of the technologies that are already shaping the energy system of the future.
